Sunday Afternoon Cocktails - Sprite and Vodka

I know, I know, there are lots of problems with this post. 1.) There are no pictures. 2.) It’s a day late (Sunday afternoon cocktails should be on SUNDAY) and 3.) It might not be formatted right. Let me talk a little about #3: I’m trying for the first time to post through email, so forgive me if it doesn’t follow the same format as all the other posts. If this works, I’ll be posting a lot more because that means I can steal a free minute at work to do so.

Anyway, back to the cocktail. The next couple weeks are going to be quite difficult for me to post drinks because I’ve given up alcohol for Lent. Some of you may be shocked, some of you may be appalled, but I have faith that I can do it. I didn’t give up blogging about alcohol though, so here is a recipe for one of my favorite do-it- yourself cocktails.

One more thing – if you found this blog by using the foodbuzz widget (see the right margin for my widget), welcome!! I always enjoy getting new readers! I hope you stay awhile.

Vodka and Sprite (let’s dub this The Melissa)

Ingredients:

1 shot of vodka (or more if you’re feeling saucy)

½ cup sprite – you can use club soda or seltzer water, too, but since they have different tastes, the end product will be a little different

Splash of cranberry juice

2 ice cubes

Lime slice, for garnish

Directions:

Combine all ingredients but the lime in a shaker. Shake a few times to mix up all the ingredients. Using the shaker’s strainer, pour into a Collins glass and garnish with lime slice. Enjoy!
